Along the beachfront at Palm Beach, you will find an espresso
cafe, the 2108 espresso for that matter. With its prime position at the ever so
popular Palm Beach, it is no surprise that this cafe is constantly packed.
However, as a customer, I can't help but feel these aren't repeat customers.
With the local bus stopping right out the front, it is easy for visitors to
quickly grab a coffee or snack on their way down to the beach.
The staff are young, usually girls but with the occasional
exception. I believe they are really trying to do their best and be as helpful
as possible, but it seems to me that they have not received adequate training,
and are instead left to workout how to deal with difficult customers, a hard
task for a teenager. If your order is actually processed correctly, more often
than not you will find yourself waiting a long time, maybe even double checking
they haven't forgot your order.
The position of the cafe limits the amount of cooking that can
be done on premises, therefore limiting the choice for the customer. The taste
of their pre-prepared sandwiches suggests to a food enthusiast (much like
myself) that they weren't made today, or yesterday either.
I was very disappointed in this cafe. I may not have the
greatest business sense, but I do strongly believe that they are not using
their position to its full advantage.
