Zubi at Newport is a cafe that has been designed to suit the
more "alternative" person, with very individual pieces of furniture
and an outdoor seating area with numerous plants (which takes away the suburban
feel). Despite the great effort by this cafe in attracting this target market,
many of its customers (from my observations) are middle-aged individuals, maybe
in early retirement or working part time, who enjoy reading the paper with
their morning coffee. In saying that, if I were an individual in this
situation, I would not look past Zubi. The coffee is excellent; it has been
made with absolute care, and is crafted from expert baristas. While you wait
for your coffee, the employees are so friendly and accommodating, that you
leave feeling as though you have known this person for years rather than
minutes. Furthermore, the food is made for you when ordered, they do not have
pre-prepared main meals ready to go. Although this increases the wait time in
food, you can really taste how fresh it is. Overall, a great cafe with a great
culture, however, being directly on the main road makes for a noisy experience.
